On February 22, 2023, my first book launch event occurred at BCAA for our People and Development Department. I want to send a special thank you to the supporter, Dawn F and the coordinator, Michelle P for hosting such a fun-filled event that I will remember for all my days as the start of my marketing and launching of my book.
A table was set up in the corner with an oversized poster, provided by my Spouse, with a seat and pens so I could host the book signing. On another table were candy treats along with some information about yours truly for attendees to view. Some bubbly drinks and popcorn were served for consumption while I delved into the first couple chapters of “Coming Into Power”.
I began by explaining what motivated me to write the book, my journey from the idea to completion, and the support received from all those in my circle. I never expected for it to make it to a completed project but here it is frontline and center and no matter what comes of this book moving into the future, I already feel accomplished, not only in my book writing endeavor but also knowing what great support and influences I have in my life from my family, friends, and work family. I am extremely humbled by all the encouragement and support every individual has displayed towards me and this project.
After describing how the novel came about, I provided a book reading of the prologue, chapter 1, and chapter 2. Also informing attendees of my website and if they want, they can listen to me reading it again off the chapters section. The end of chapter 2 left everyone on a surprised cliff-hanger which based on the response sounds impacted the way it was intended. During the event, several individuals purchased my book immediately. To thank them, I took names and wrote specific autographed messages to each person before returning the purchased books to them.
Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me in the past and continues to do so now. I look forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts on the book and may even factor in some feedback into the second book which is currently in progress.
